Beginner Program

I was looking for recommendations on beginner programs for my friend. Phils -- can you post/link me to that beginning Rippetoe program from the book you lent me?

Here is a Sheiko beginner program. Seems a little complicated to me for a real beginner.

If his technique is good then just have him do the Sheiko program. Maybe cut out the volume of the main lifts in half because it'll be insanely long for a beginner but otherwise go with that. Or there's always 5x5 for bench, squat, dead, 3x/week a la Bill Star. That works well.

Well, I was looking for somewhere in between. I was a fan of the Rippetoe beginner program just because it had some variety while sticking to the main lifts in a really simple fashion.

I have a bunch of programs too that I wrote for Pi Kapps along the way. I can send you some if you want.

A bunch of the Rippetoe stuff is collected here. Other than that, tell them to buy the damn book. It's less than the price of a protein canister and will do MUCH more for them.

Oh yeah, ram through their heads that they must be eating enough to make this program work like it's supposed to. The Gallon Of Milk A Day thing is no joke.

@ Jake: Yes, plz.

@ Phils: Thx. And I don't think she's interested in eating a lot, but I might bring it up.

That Starting Strength Wiki is a great read. Thanks for the link Phil!
